Commentary — Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens consists of a series of ponds separated by dikes that branches off the Anacostia River in D.C. The ponds contain a variety of aquatic flowers; the lotuses bloom in June and July. This image was cropped down from a larger scene. The lotus flower is about eight inches across; a 16×20 print of this photo is about life-size.
