Commentary — Initially I photographed this courthouse on an earlier trip to the Big Bend area; this is a second attempt with the Linhof. Snow was falling on the previous trip and I thought it would make a pretty photograph. When I returned home I discovered that earlier in that trip my film holder had jammed, and I had “shot blanks” from then on, not exposing any more film. Curiously this didn’t really upset me; I just laughed it off, which made me think that I enjoy using the Linhof more than I care about the actual photos that I get from it. The Provia film was packaged in individual lightproof sleeves called Quickloads. I was able to re-use the Quickloads, which helped. This courthouse in snow would have been pretty, though.
